caregiver support and services at The Arc of Southeast Iowa.
Respite Care
If you’re the primary caregiver for a family member or a
person with a disability, look to The Arc for support. Respite care provides your
loved one with support and supervision while you have time to complete everyday
activities. Respite Care is available for both in-group and individual
settings.
Screened, experienced respite care providers make it
possible for families to:
- Take a break during stressful times
- Complete personal business
- Relax
Research has shown that respite services improve your quality of life and help maintain healthy family relationships.
Sibship Program
If you’re a kid between 6 and 12 years old, and you have a sibling with disabilities, The Arc’s Sibship Program is for you! This monthly support group provides an encouraging and safe environment to talk about your experiences and have fun.
Email sibship@arcsei.org for more information!
Activities
Meetings combine games, activities, and food. Here’s what you can expect at the program:
- A place to hang out
- A place to learn and grow
- A place to make new friends who understand what you’re going through!
- A place where you can talk about things that bug you!
- Arts and crafts
- Time for you
The Sibship Program is open to all interested siblings of children with disabilities.
Thanks to generous community partners, this program is free to participants. The Arc volunteers coordinate and run this support group.
